- “I enjoy having school online, but I miss being able to socialize. I’m new to Kaiser and don’t have any friends. How can I make friends if I’m scared and shy?”
-Antisocial and Afraid
Response: Hey! I know it’s hard for a lot of people to step out of their comfort zone and talk to new people. I can imagine it’s even harder to do that now because of the circumstances surrounding COVID. A good way to make friends while attending classes online is through social media. For example, let’s say you’re doing a group project and are working with your classmates. Try asking them if they have Instagram or Snapchat and then from there you can connect with their mutuals. It’s usually easier to talk to people online because there’s less pressure. I hope all goes well!
- I’ve been struggling financially ever since the pandemic started. I was planning to get a job this school year, but now I’m too scared to because I don’t want to get my family sick. How can I make money without leaving my house?”
-Down in the slums
Response: Hi! I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling financially. This pandemic has taken a big toll on many people, financially; so just know that you are not alone. A good idea on making money can be to sell stuff online. I’ve been selling my clothes that I don’t really wear anymore through depop. You can sell a variety of things online. Some examples are homemade jewelry, original artwork, etc. For a lot of selling apps, the process is very simple. All you do is take a picture of the item you want to list, add a description, and fill out the information it asks you for. When someone purchases your item, you will be sent an email with the shipping label. Then you just package up your order and tape the label to the mailer. Finally you drop it off at your local USPS. Examples of these apps that you can use to sell items are Poshmark, Mercari, Ebay etc. Get that bag! Sincerely, Madeleine
